NHL Three Stars: Datsyuk goes Wild; Ellis backstops Canes over Sabres (Puck Daddy)

No. 1 Star: Pavel Datsyuk, Detroit Red Wings The Red Wings star delighted the Suter and Parise-jeering home fans with three points to lead Detroit to a 5-3 victory over the Minnesota Wild. He set up Henrik Zetterberg’s goal to break a 2-2 tie in the second. Less than five minutes later, he scored a power-play goal of his own. In the third, he set up Todd Bertuzzi’s second of the game. No. 2 Star: Ryan Malone, Tampa Bay Lightning Malone scored two third-period goals to rally the Bolts to a 6-4 win over the visiting Ottawa Senators. He tipped home a Sami Salo shot to tie the game and later collected a rebound to put Tampa ahead for good. No. 3 Star: Dan Ellis, Carolina Hurricanes The backup netminder made 40 saves in a sensational effort, keeping the Canes in the game until third-period goals by Alex Semin and Jay Harrison powered Carolina to a 3-1 win over the Buffalo Sabres.
