There is a severe lack of talent on the team & at the end of the day that is what will prevent them from having a spot in the playoffs. Which is totally fine by me. I think the Isles can have a very successful year without making the playoffs. The Isles really need to consider this entire season to be an 82 game training camp & find out what you have with some of these young players. Short bursts then off. Short practices - no bag skating practices. Long before Gordon talked about this, Glen Sather was already doing it with the Oilers.
