with all that said, the overspeed system is a lot more exciting to watch as a fan.

not a fan of the multiple odd man rushes it creates for the other team though.
Reply - Quote

IMO it doesn't matter what type of system the Isles put forth. There is a severe lack of talent on the team & at the end of the day that is what will prevent them from having a spot in the playoffs.

Which is totally fine by me. I think the Isles can have a very successful year without making the playoffs.

The Isles really need to consider this entire season to be an 82 game training camp & find out what you have with some of these young players.

But until the team has better talent, no system whether it's a trap defense, overspeed or anything inbetween is going to work with this group.
Reply - <a href="#" class="quote" onclick="quote('6898','Steve','IMO it doesn\'t matter what type of system the Isles put forth.
Pat, I think "overspeed" refers to the manner in which practices are carried out (full exertion to the point of almost losing coordination). Short bursts then off. Short practices - no bag skating practices. Long before Gordon talked about this, Glen Sather was already doing it with the Oilers. As far as the Isles problems winning, I think it's just a matter of inadequate experience and inadequate (or too old?) talent making bad decisions. The rest will take are of itself in time. MHO.
Reply - <a href="#" class="quote" onclick="quote('6893','Tom Eagles','Pat, I think \"overspeed\" refers to the manner in which practices are carried out (full exertion to the point of almost losing coordination).
